A series of massive explosions rocked the Jordanian city of Zarqa early on Friday. Huge orange flames lit the desert night sky and could be seen as far away as the capital, Amman.

Several Jordanian media outlets reported of several injuries as a result of an
explosion at the al-Ghabawi ammunition depot area in Zarqa. Government spokesman Amjad al-Adaileh said in his statement that "so far no injuries have been recorded.".

An initial investigation had determined that "the explosion was caused by an electrical short circuit in warehouses situated in an isolated and uninhabited area" which was under camera surveillance.
