Silent footage of a commercial whale hunt from sometime around 1930, using machine-launched harpoons. There was a time when whale products were essential to the world economy, but fortunately that is no longer true, and whale hunting is now rarely undertaken, except by some traditional indigenous peoples and a few short-sighted Japanese companies.
