Vijayawada: Seven dead after fire breaks out at Covid care facility

Three days after a major fire killed 8 people admitted to a Covid hospital in Ahmedabad, a similar tragedy struck at another Covid care centre in Vijayawada. At least 7 Covid patients died in the fire. Fire broke out early morning at a private hotel that has been turned into a Covid care centre by a private hospital. The fire broke out at 5 am and soon flames engulfed one part of the facility. Multiple fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze. About 30 patients were at the Covid care centre when the fire broke out.
