Footage emerging from an outer-Melbourne checkpoint of a woman being forcibly dragged from her car is “terrorism pure and simple," according to Sky News host Rowan Dean.

Footage has emerged of a woman being physically and forcibly removed from her vehicle by police at a checkpoint in Wallan – in Melbourne’s outer suburbs – which she has previously routinely crossed.

Sky News host Rita Panahi said although not knowing the full story surrounding the footage, it clearly appears to be heavy handed and “police overreach”.

“It’s terrorising law-abiding people needlessly,” she said.

The woman was pulled over by police when crossing the checkpoint allegedly because of her phone being displayed on the windscreen, however the full details have not yet emerged.

Sky News host James Morrow said the display was “simply not Australian”.

“Why do the cops have to go from zero to nuclear in ten seconds," he said.
