MPs take a pay raise while raising the carbon tax

Talk about being tone deaf.

MPs, who fled Ottawa over concerns about COVID-19 on March 13, will pocket a pay raise on April 1, the same day many Canadians will be wondering how to make rent or mortgage payments. It’s also the same day the carbon tax goes up.

How’s that for a double whammy?

MPs currently have a base salary of $178,900. That doesn’t include their housing allowance for their time in Ottawa or the per diems that they get to cover meals while on government business.

Carbon tax bumps up gas prices in 4 provinces — will it change consumer behaviour?

Gas prices went up for consumers in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick on Monday as the federal carbon tax kicked in.

The tax has drawn heat from across the country, from politicians and Canadians in general, who say it will harm the economy and put too much of a financial burden on consumers.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has been one of the most vocal opponents, repeatedly calling the move a “tax grab.” On Monday, Scheer spoke in New Brunswick saying he’ll scrap the tax if he becomes prime minister.

Justin Trudeau Gets Crushed Online After Suggesting Canadians Turn Off Lights

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be handling his own coronavirus pandemic, but he’s still committed to pursuing radical environmental policies and ingratiating himself to the global environmental elite.

Saturday night, while most Canadians sheltered at home, under “social distancing” order designed to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, Trudeau suggested on social media that those sheltering in place turn off their electricity to save the planet.

Must We Kill the Economy to Kill the Virus?

"We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself," tweeted the president on Sunday night, adding that, after the current 15-day shutdown, "we will make a decision as to which way we want to go."

President Trump is said to be privately expressing a deepening concern at the damage the coronavirus shutdown is doing to the U.S. economy and debating whether it can be safely reopened.

Though castigated for his remark, Trump has a point.

The U.S. is rightly using extreme measures to meet the threat and control the virus that threatens the lives of millions of Americans, with the elderly sick foremost among them. And we need to do so without killing the economy upon which scores of millions of other Americans depend.

According to CDC: 0.2% to 1.8% of All US Deaths Since February are Confirmed or Presumed to be Due to COVID-19 -- And They Want to Destroy Economy Over This?

Of course, it if very difficult to get any honest reporting from the mainstream media today.

Their objective is to destroy President Trump not report the facts.
They even downplayed hydroxychloroquine, the “most effective therapy” recommended by a global survey of doctors, in order to slam President Trump.
Getting reliable information is difficult.
The CDC website is even confusing.

Trump administration says gun shops are "essential," putting them in the same category as grocery stores and pharmacies

Social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders have been implemented in most of the country, greatly limiting where Americans can go. Businesses classified as "essential services" include grocery stores, pharmacies and even gun stores.

On Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released guidance on essential and critical businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. Within the public safety and law enforcement category, DHS listed the firearm industry as essential.
