Some range footage of the famous Thompson M1928A1 .45 ACP Submachinegun with the 50 round drum magazine and 20 and 30 round box magazines. As is apparent from the footage, the cyclic rate of the 1928A1 is high, about 900 to 1100 rpm. The Thompson is a heavy gun, and was quite expensive to manufacture, but in spite of this earned a good reputation.

Note that this firearm belongs to a federally licensed museum. The museum is authorized under their license conditions to possess the firearm in it's live condition, with original capacity magazines, and they are also also authorized to conduct demonstration firings, which is why the rifle was at the range following an inter-service shoot with the Army, Navy, RCMP and Provincial Rifle Association.
