Yokas Boslarelli born Richard Stephens has been inspiring thousands of people with his music since the early 2000s. He was about to start another album when an unexpected event happened and turned his and his family's world upside down. since early 2016 Yokas and his wife have been partners of a neighborhood response communication group, with the use of radios that they carry on them at all times to talk to each other and others on the system because they don't use cell phones. the radios are to keep in contact with each other and to report crashes, people in trouble, etc. and that the other can call medical assistance for. Yokas carried a body camera on him so he can document encounters he has while volunteering his time. He also was carrying a JPX4 Compact Defender Pepper Spray Gun to protect himself from any hurt, harm or danger to himself or others. On the morning of October 3, 2017 at approximately 10 a.m. richard stephens had an eye doctor's appointment at Keith Gurland eye doctors office at 521 Broadway in Bayonne, NJ and it seemed like a regular day to him. When he got there a office worker was helping him into a room, and proceeded to do a quick eye examine, as she was finishing he engaged in a conversation with her about the Las Vegas shooting that recently occurred, as they were speaking Mr. Stephens made a reference to his own pepper spray gun he owned like he does with every other place he goes to. When the office worker left the room, she seemed like she was fine with every thing and they were even joking, she even told him she was pregnant and Mr. Stephens said his wife is also pregnant. When she left the room she called her husband who later called the police to report there was some one in the office with a gun on them. When the police showed up they yelled down the hall way "you in the room down the hall, come out with your hands showing" and Mr. Stephens didn't think it was for him because he had never had a problem like this kind but on September 29th, 2017 at approximately between 1:30pm and 2:10pm Mr. Stephens got stopped by a Jersey City police captain in the area of Communipaw Ave & 440 of Jersey City because the officer saw the very end of his pepper spray gun in the holster so he called for back up. When the back up got there it was a detective and two cops who showed up. They saw the ATF paper and other paper work mr stephens had on him to show it's a pepper spray gun and not a firearm or other weapons and they let him go, but on October 3rd 2017 at around 11:23 am The Bayonne police sat there with him for 40 minutes or so trying to figure out if it was a gun or what and Mr. Stephens even showed the paper work he had on him all of this while his body camera was recording. After Mr. Stephens explained to them, everything he can to get them to understand they later refused and Mr. Stephens remained calm the entire time as he was detained by Bayonne police officers. After the officers saw the papers of the pepper spray, the body cam and radio, these officers proceeded to charge Mr. Stephens with unlawful possession of a weapon and arrested him without reading his rights. They finally took him down to the police station which one of the police officers called, his wife to tell him what was going on because Mr. Stephens asked and the police officer even told his wife Mr. Stephens was completely nice and doing what was asked of him the whole time and did not resist anything. The police officer then told his wife he should be released and have a summons with in a few hours which didn't happen. The police officers written their statements and as they did a few officers actually felt bad for him, but a warrant was issued for his arrest and Hudson County officerd put him in Hudson County Jail. in addition to police report, the officers are now claiming the Mr. Stephens had premeditation to use the pepper spray gun in an unlawful purpose which is 100% false. The caller never mentioned that he was doing this at all, just simply called to report "man with gun" unfortunately Mr. Stephens was later sent to Hudson County Jail after being held for more then 10 hours of being at the station. The next day he had a video court hearing at Hudson Superior Court which they sought to detain him in jail because him and his wife found out the Bayonne lied on the complaint warrant which they wrote saying "Stephens knowingly possess on his sole person a firearm with purpose to use it unlawfully against the person or property" and not the caller at the doctor's office which was the only thing the prosecutor was going by. On his next court date which was on October 10th, his lawyer fought hard for him to get out and the prosecutor finally said to release him on that day. Mr. Stephens was released on ROR at the time of this video footage with the charges with the case still pending and no charges were dropped.
