The Proposed Salmonberry Trail In Western Oregon

An update on the proposed Salmonberry Trail in Western Oregon. it appears that sections of the trail will most likely be built starting in Tillamook in the near future.

The most important issue is the enormous costs. How will heavy construction equipment and building materials be moved around on the section between Wheeler and Banks? Most of that area is only accessible by rail. Many new culverts and adequate drainage systems will need to be built so the trail doesn't wash away. The old bridges and tunnels will need to be inspected for safety. What about trash disposals, and other trails branching off from the main trail? There are many more questions which I hope to see answers to soon.
