The argument that more lockdowns lead to less deaths is 'statistically incorrect'

The Australian’s Adam Creighton says one would think Australia would have changed it's response to COVID-19 over the last six months considering the new knowledge that’s been gained about the virus, yet it hasn't.
“In Australia, … it’s just the same as it was in March, which is really just extraordinary," Mr Creighton told Sky News host Alan Jones.
“The rest of the world’s moving on, you’re not seeing states of the US close their borders, or provinces of France close their borders.
Mr Creighton said the argument that a strong lockdown would lead to fewer deaths was statistically not right.
“It might seem intuitively right, but it is certainly not correct statistically.”
