Soviet Degtyarev DP-28 Light Machinegun

A look at a Soviet DP-28 (Degtyarev) Light Machine Gun in 7.62x54R. This LMG is fed from a 47 round "pan" magazine that mounts to the top of the weapon, giving the DP28 a unique look. Several versions of the Degtyarev were standard Soviet light machine guns from late 1920's until the early 1950's.

Note that this firearm belongs to a federally licensed museum. The museum is authorized under their license conditions to possess the firearm in it's live condition, with original capacity magazines, and are also also authorized to conduct demonstration firings, which is why it was at the range. Regrettably we did not get a chance to fire this MG, but the opportunity might come at a later date.
