Salt Lake City, Utah — The Salt Lake City Police Department released body camera footage from an officer-involved critical incident that resulted in the death of Andrew Jacob Preece on July 25. Officers responded to a fight with a knife at the Smiths. Officers located the subjects actively involved in an altercation as they were walking East on 500 S. Officers confronted the suspect with the knife, at that time the suspect grabbed the other male pulling him close and putting the knife to the neck of the other male creating a hostage situation. Officers discharged their firearms at the suspect who was pronounced dead at the scene.
