I am starting to mod my Springfield Armory 1911 Mil Spec (GI). The first modification I am making is adding a beavertail safety. This is a Smith & Alexander High Safety for .220 radius. I am also using a Smith & Alexander safety installation jig for .220 radius.

Since the mil spec hammer is no longer applicable (wouldn't fit beavertail) I replaced it with an Ed Brown barstock hammer. It is awesome. Since I was replacing the hammer I also got an Ed Brown hammer strut. I tried to simulate the sand/bead blasted finish on the grip safety. Check out how it turned out toward the end of the video.

In future videos I will be making more modifications to this 1911. Make sure to subscribe to be notified when they are posted.

Parts obtained from Brownells:
Ed Brown Barstock Hammer (897 STAINLESS)
Ed Brown Hammer Strut (823)
220 degree S&A Installation Jig (849 - 009 - 000)
70 STD SS 220 High Grip Safety (849 - 009 - 117)

Thank you for watching.
