Rod Liddle: 'Freedom of speech has deteriorated over the last 20 years'
Journalist Rod Liddle speaks to Kevin O'Sullivan about how he thinks freedom of speech has deteriorated over the last 20 years. He says there is a "tyranny of now" where "everything has to confirm to things we believe in now" rather than viewing through the prism of history.
Rod says the statement Black Lives Matter "is fundamentally true" but criticises the organisation which he says aims to "dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and state structures".
Discussing the BBC's recent coverage of protests, Rod said "there's too few black and ethnic minority people in the hierarchy of the BBC" and suggests the BBC are happy to put ethnically diverse people into comedies and Eastenders, but not into positions of authority within the BBC.
