Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold his daily briefing on Friday and will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada David Lametti, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Joël Lightbound.

Federal ministers and health officials are expected to provide an update on Canada's response to COVID-19 following the prime minister's briefing.

In a briefing in Ottawa Thursday, chief of the defence staff Gen. Jonathan Vance said one sailor confirmed to have died is Sub-Lt. Abbigail Cowbrough of Nova Scotia, and five others remain missing.
