US President Donald Trump is one of the few global leaders willing to stand up to cultural Marxists whose ideology “is profoundly anti-Western,” according to Sky News host Alan Jones.

President Trump has blasted "angry mobs" trying to tear down statues as he claimed protesters are attempting to "wipe out" US history in a speech to mark America's Independence Day.

The US president addressed more than 7,000 supporters at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.

He also criticised "cancel culture" - which he claimed was "driving people from their jobs, shaming dissenters, and demanding total submission from anyone who disagrees" - and branded it "the very definition of totalitarianism".

"This attack on our liberty ... must be stopped and it will be stopped very quickly," President Trump said.

“The West fought wars and gave lives to defeat Marxism. To protect freedoms; to defend Capitalism against Socialism,” Mr Jones said.

"Now we are faced with a Black Lives Matter movement whose three founders are declared Marxists, committed to upending the social order of Western Nations.

"They are actually talking in parts of America about defunding the Police.”

"These are foot soldiers of a new ideology that is profoundly anti-Western and views Western history as little more than a litany of crimes. “

Mr Jones discussed the issues with Daily Telegraph’s Miranda Devine.
