In the ex-Fox News anchor's most in-depth interview since leaving broadcast television, Megyn Kelly sounds off on Donald Trump's attacks against her — and how they impacted Fox News and its then-CEO Roger Ailes.

In the run-up to the 2016 election, she says Ailes "wasn't ready to just lie down for Trump." But then "Trump would continue to grow in power, and I think Ailes would get a little bit more deferential to him."

Kelly also weighs in on the Obama years and speaks about Hillary Clinton — whom she says "enabled" her husband Bill's behavior. "...The woman who would go into office, if [Trump] lost, was no saint either..." she says.

This interview was conducted by FRONTLINE’s Michael Kirk on October 3, 2019, during our reporting for "America's Great Divide: From Obama to Trump,” a four-hour special series on how America’s current polarization came to be. It has been edited for clarity and length.
