I walk Fefit thru a stage, Crawl-Walk-Run style.
We talked thru the stage, walked it without weapons, then I show you her dry weapon run... we catch a weapons handling issue and so (off camera) we are able to address it and spent 15 minutes practicing. The live fire run went great and it is a showcase of how proper training methods with children can really pay-off.
I am not an expert trainer, but taking the extra time to ensure muscle memory and questions are raised DRY, is an important aspect when teaching kiddo's new techniques.
Both guns today ran fantastic. Never a complaint on either our Core15 AR or the new M&P M2.0 that Fefit named 'Josh'. I actually got to fire it for the first time at this training day, Fefit has well over 500 rounds though it and now I have approx. 30 rounds. She is a bit possessive of her favored handgun. lol
It’s great to see kids properly trained. Safety is key. Good job
