How long, Oh Lord, wilt Thou hide Thy face,
As though Thou hast forgotten me?
How long shall I continue in sorrow and disgrace,
As though defeated by mine enemy?
Consider Thou my plight, oh Lord, and hear Thou my plea,
Lest mine enemies should boast in my demise,
Lest I should sleep the sleep of death,
Oh Lord lighten mine eyes,
For in thy mercy I have put my faith!
Yea, I will sing unto the Lord with unfeigned gratitude,
For my soul He hath dealt bountifully with!
