Hong Kong reports first novel coronavirus death as Macau shuts all casinos for two weeks
On Feb 4, a 39-year-old man became the first person to die from the novel coronavirus in Hong Kong. He had returned to the city from Wuhan in January. Two more people also tested positive for the virus, bringing Hong Kong's total number of cases to 17. Both the patients did not have any recent travel history to the mainland and are believed to have been infected locally. Meanwhile, Macau announced it will be shutting all casinos for two weeks to try to curb the outbreak.
There are now over 20,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in China.
Many of the new fatalities came from Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak.
