When God raised up St. Joan of Arc, France was in a terrible plight and her end was near! There was much suffering … internal discords, fires of hatred, wickedness. St. Joan came to the crown prince Charles in Chinon and showed him the way out. At one point, she mentioned how she had seen the greatest rulers of France, Charlemagne and Louis IX, kneeling in heaven pleading for the eldest daughter of the Church, that her king be re-established and healing of the nation begin. Joan then explained how once the dauphin was crowned King in Rheims, he was to give the realm over to Christ the King and He would give it back to Charles in vassalage…and what is more, His Majesty would then give the power to its new king to govern it well! So, the French had a choice… vassalage to the English or to Christ the King! Here is why the country was ailing… Here is why nations fail. They are missing something important. To make them great countries, they need Christ as their King. This was the only way France would recover its sovereignty, overcome internal divisions, put an end to wickedness … all to become once again the eldest daughter of the Church. So it must be for any and all nations who want healing!
