South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem Isn’t Locking Down Her State, Blasts ‘Draconian Measures’ and ‘Herd Mentality’

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) reassured those who live in her state last week, telling them she doesn’t plan to institute a statewide stay-at-home order.

On Friday, she said up to 70% of South Dakotans might contract COVID-19, the infection caused by the novel coronavirus. However, she’s believes a lockdown, though it might slow the spread of the illness, wouldn’t be worth the disruption it would cause.

“South Dakota is not New York City,” Noem said earlier in the week, according to the Argus Leader. “The calls to apply for a one-size-fits-all approach to this problem is herd mentality. It’s not leadership.”

South Dakota has become the latest state to remove permit requirements for gun owners to carry and conceal their weapons.

The state’s new Republican governor, Kristi Noem, signed SB 47 into law Thursday. The legislation permits residents to legally carry a firearm concealed on their person so long as they are allowed to possess one.

Federalist Society

Founded in 1982, the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians dedicated to reforming the current legal order. We are committed to the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. The Society seeks to promote awareness of these principles and to further their application through its activities.

There’s A Reason Liberals Are Always So Angry

Have you ever wondered why rage seems to be “all the rage” with liberals these days? Every time you turn around there’s another march for this or protest against that; recycled chants about how something “has got to go,” and a fawning media all too happy to report it as if it were news. It’s not news, of course, it’s a mass temper tantrum by political activists still unhappy their fellow Americans chose to reject Hillary Clinton in 2016. But there’s more to it than that, something strategic is at play.

Liberals Are Content To Watch It All Burn

It seems quaint, even a little funny, but during the Cold War, President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev agreed to “set aside their differences in case the world was invaded by aliens.” Today, Democrats can’t even stop to take a breath before spinning, twisting, or straight-up lying in an attempt to damage President Donald Trump and Republicans in the face of a pandemic. That’s a special kind of sick; an evil that sees opportunity and advantage in stoking fear and panic without concern for the wellbeing of others.

You’d think, or at least hope, in an emergency, so-called “news” organizations would verify everything they report, knowing the public is on edge and listening for information. You’d be wrong.

Why Conservatives Find Life More Meaningful Than Liberals

In a new study of people in 16 different countries, researchers from the University of Southern California and the University of Utah found that conservatives reported feeling there was more meaning and purpose in life than liberals did.

The authors performed a series of five studies, all of which replicated each others’ findings. Conservatives found life more meaningful in data sets from several countries in the early 1980s, in a nationally representative data set of Americans in 2007, and in data collected between 2010 and 2017. In other data sets, conservatives found greater meaning in life when the measures were taken at the end of every day for two weeks. They were also more likely to feel that their lives had “a clear sense of purpose” at any given moment.
