I did this as a response to a thread that has appeared on the FnForum in regards to a KB, and the OP has made the assertion that it fired OOB using factory SS197SR ammunition. Only brass with primers were used in this expirement. No Live ammunition was in the room.

We can only assume at this point, but he stated he was also firing reloads at the same time before this magazine of SS197SR that had been loaded for two months. Based on the pictures of the damage, it would appear he fired a double charged round.

Just incase I performed this OOB test on my FSN. It is noted that the hammer did drop as high as the slide being rearward .160". It wasn't til I got to the low end of .034" that the round finally fired. At .034" the barrel disengagement from the breach face was hardly enough to cause an unsupported cause rupture assosciated with a gun firing OOB..

Again, I'm not responsible if you try this yourself..
