He was invincible compared to today's modern sissy NFL players. He was the last of the players to play both offense and defense during the game for 14 seasons. He played Center and Linebacker. He was inducted to the Professional Football Hall of Fame in 1967, and missed only four games in his entire career. As part of the greatest generation he flew on 30 combat missions over Germany as a B-24 waist-gunner with the Eighth Air Force in WWII.
