If you recall, when that early tornado hit, I said then, that this was going to be a bad tornado season and it sure is. 525 tornadoes this month alone. 757 tornadoe warnings in 28 states in just a couple weeks. Since the beginning of the year 934 tornado reports were received, this is up from the yearly average of 743 observed tornadoes. 3 EF4s, the one in Ohio was an EF4. 170 mph winds. Tornadoes hit in places they don’t usually hit. In the past week, 7 deaths in tornadoes in Iowa, Missouri, OK, and Ohio. Those 7 deaths were all at night. This year 38 people have died in 10 tornadoes in the US. The deadliest was on Mar. 3 when 23 people were killed in AL. This system has finally started to ebb. Flooding is the danger they are worried about now.
There is some good news, Marsh said: The trough in the West is forecast to slide up north toward Canada over the next couple of days. This should bring at least a temporary end to the severe storms in the central USA.
But another stormy pattern is possible next week, Marsh said, so the threat for severe storms and floods is not over. And it won't be long before another infamous weather threat rears its ugly head: The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins Saturday.
VA and NC have a threat of severe weather today. TX also. This isn’t to say they will have tornadoes, only to be aware of storms. TX tho, might have worse weather out toward Lubbock that could be tornadoes embedded.
