Flynn said the FBI's then-Deputy Director Andy McCabe suggested the Trump adviser not bring a lawyer to the questioning.
Turley called the move by McCabe "highly irregular," and credited U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan's decision, saying the Clinton appointee is a well-respected, "very good judge."
President Trump also reacted, telling Harris Faulkner that Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team were "embarrassed they got caught" railroading Flynn.
Turley said it is custom for the feds to notify the White House Counsel -- at that time, Donald McGahn -- and go through the proper channels to interview someone like Flynn.
However, he said it was strange for then-FBI Director James Comey to -- in the former lawman's words -- "just send a couple guys over" to the White House -- instead of calling McGahn first.
Comey said during an event this week at the 92nd Street Y in New York that "in a more organized administration," he would've sought out Flynn through conventional means.
Turley called the comment "disturbing" and said Comey has a history of ignoring protocol -- pointing to his 2016 press conference exonerating Hillary Clinton.
He said the case against Flynn was a "canned hunt" and investigators effectively "put him in a cage and shot him" by bringing him up on charges of lying during an interview brought about under unorthodox means.
